JACKPOT and WHAT THE FISH
This week’s new releases include the Naseer-Sunny starrer JACKPOT, Dimple Kapadia and Manu Rishi’s WHAT THE FISH and the Shammi Chabra directed LUCKY KABOOTAR. With YRF’s DHOOM 3 releasing next week, the prospects of the new releases don’t look all that bright.
Last week’s major release, Prabhu Dheva’s Shahid-Sonakshi starrer R…RAJKUMAR, managed a decent opening week and held well even during the weekdays. The film is likely to emerge a plus fare. R… RAJKUMAR though has disappointed in the overseas grossing £75,000 in UK and $125,000 from the US during the opening weekend (6-8 December).
The other release of the week, CLUB 60, failed to make a mark at the box-office.
Moving on Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Saif-Sonakshi starrer , BULLETT RAJA, managed a so-so first week as it collected 2.75 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1 crore from Ahmedabad, 24 lakhs from Surat, 20 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 10 lakhs from Rajkot, 65 lakhs from Pune, 21.15 lakhs from Nasik, 3.50 lakhs from Goa, 3.50 lakhs from Belgaum, 3.50 crore from Delhi city, 50 lakhs from Noida, 55 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 35.50 lakhs from Kanpur, 80 lakhs from Lucknow, 10.55 lakhs from Agra, 14.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 8 lakhs from Aligarh, 55 lakhs from Gurgaon, 10 lakhs from Faridabad, 3.25 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 5.50 lakhs from Panipat, 20 lakhs from Chandigarh, 7 lakhs from Amritsar, 8 lakhs from Ludhiana, 4 lakhs from Bhatinda, 2.50 lakhs from Ambala, 50 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.15 lakhs from Darjeeling, 7 lakhs from Siliguri, 5.15 lakhs from Dhanbad, 3.50 lakhs from Ranchi , 6.15 lakhs from Bhubhaneshwar, 2.50 lakhs from Guwahati, 27.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 20 lakhs from Raipur, 40 lakhs from Indore (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 6.50 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 23.50 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 80 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 9 cinemas unreceived), 9.65 lakhs from Ajmer, 4 lakhs from Bikaner, 17 lakhs from Kota, 12.15 lakhs from Udaipur, 95 lakhs from Hyderabad, 55 lakhs from Bangalore, 3.50 lakhs from Mangalore, 2.75 lakhs from Vijayawada, 3.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 3 lakhs from Madras and 2.75 lakhs from Kochi. Netting 33 crore during the opening week, BULLETT RAJA, is heading for a below average status. The film has failed to make a mark in the overseas.
Checking out Anil Sharma’s SINGH SAAB THE GREAT, the film crashed in the second week as it collected 10 lakhs from Bombay, 5.75 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 20 lakhs from Delhi city, 2.50 lakhs from Noida, 4.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 2 lakhs from Kanpur, 3 lakhs from Lucknow, 2 lakhs from Agra, 3 lakhs from Gurgaon, 5 lakhs from Chandigarh, 5 lakhs from Amritsar, 3.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 2 lakhs from Nagpur, 2 lakhs from Raipur, 2 lakhs from Indore (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 10 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived) and 3 lakhs from Hyderabad. Adding another 3 crore, SINGH SAAB THE GREAT has netted 27 crore in two weeks from India and is an average fare.
The second release of the same week, Karan Johar’s Imran-Kareena starrer, GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN!, barely managed to add another 1.25 crore, thus netting 14.25 crore in two weeks from India. The Dharma Productions’ venture, GORI TERE PYAAR MEIN!, is a trade disaster.
Meanwhile Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA managed another healthy week collecting 1.25 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 80 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 15 lakhs from Surat, 20 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 35.50 lakhs from Pune, 8.65 lakhs from Nasik, 3.25 lakhs from Goa, 2.25 lakhs from Belgaum, 1.25 crore from Delhi city, 14 lakhs from Noida, 8.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 5.50 lakhs from Kanpur, 7 lakhs from Lucknow, 1 lakh from Agra, 2 lakhs from Allahabad, 17 lakhs from Gurgaon, 3.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.15 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 1 lakh from Panipat, 7 lakhs from Chandigarh, 2.75 lakhs from Amritsar, 3.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 1 lakh from Bhatinda, 17 lakhs from Calcutta, 2 lakhs from Siliguri, 2.50 lakhs from Dhanbad, 1.50 lakhs from Ranchi, 2 lakhs from Bhubhaneshwar, 1.50 lakhs from Guwahati, 21.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 5.65 lakhs from Raipur, 12.55 lakhs from Indore, 2 lakhs from Gwalior, 6.50 lakhs from Bhopal, 25lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 3.75 lakhs from Ajmer, 2 lakhs from Bikaner, 2.55 lakhs from Kota, 8 lakhs from Udaipur, 35 lakhs from Hyderabad, 45 lakhs from Bangalore, 2 lakhs from Mangalore, 3 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 2 lakhs from Madras and 1.50 lakhs from Kochi. Adding another 9 crore, RAM-LEELA has netted 111 crore in three weeks from India and is a superhit. The Deepika-Ranveer starrer, RAM-LEELA has also done very well in the overseas (superb in US) grossing $6.8m with £812,435 from UK and $2,634,000 from US.
To conclude, Rakesh Roshans’s Hrithik, Priyanka, Vivek and Kangana starrer KRRISH 3 added another crore and has thus ended its run netting 190 crore in five weeks from India. The film is a blockbuster. KRRISH 3 has also performed very well in the overseas grossing $9 m at the end of it’s run.
