Box Office Report : 12th April 2012

Thursday, April 12, 2012 2:57:53 PM (IST) | Abid, Bollywood Trade Editorial

This week will see the release of Wide Frame Pictures and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures' BITTOO BOSS and Sri Prasad Media's CHHODO KAL KI BAATEIN. Given the fact that HOUSEFULL 2 will still be quite strong during the second weekend as well, both the films will be hit hard, though BITTOO BOSS may still get the patronage of its target audience.

Last Friday's Sajid Khan directed HOUSEFULL 2 saw a rollicking opening weekend, netting nearly 43 crores, the best ever for an Akshay Kumar starrer, beating the previous record (TEES MAAR KHAN) by about 4-5 crores! And this despite two powerful regional films, MIRZA - THE UNTOLD STORY in East Punjab and RACHA in Nizam, as also the IPL. Given the steady and stable weekdays run, the Sajid Nadiadwala produced HOUSEFULL 2 is on way to a grand success. HOUSEFULL 2 has also set the overseas on fire, grossing £396,500 from UK and $ 847,000 from the US, (including paid previews) during the opening weekend (6-8 April).

After a slowish start, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Vishesh Films' BLOOD MONEY maintained reasonably during the weekdays as it collected 1.05 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 35.20 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 13.55 lakhs from Surat, 6.50 lakhs from Baroda, 7 lakhs from Rajkot, 9.20 lakhs from Pune, 6.50 lakhs from Nasik, 3 lakhs from Goa, 2.10 lakhs from Belgaum, 75 lakhs from Delhi city, 10 lakhs from Noida, 9.20 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 8 lakhs from Kanpur, 10.35 lakhs from Lucknow, 3.60 lakhs from Agra, 3 lakhs from Allahabad, 12 lakhs from Gurgaon, 3.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.75 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 2.15 lakhs from Panipat, 5 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.60 lakhs from Jalandhar, 2 lakhs from Amritsar, 2 lakhs from Ludhiana, 1.50 lakhs from Bhatinda, 1.15 lakhs from Ambala, 17.30 lakhs from Calcutta, 2.60 lakhs from Siliguri, 1.50 lakhs from Guwahati, 9.25 lakhs from Nagpur, 7.30 lakhs from Raipur, 11.25 lakhs from Indore (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 1.65 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 10 lakhs from Bhopal, 12.20 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 4 lakhs from Kota, 2.65 lakhs from Udaipur, 12.70 lakhs from Hyderabad, 3 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 14.30 lakhs from Bangalore and 2 lakhs from Mangalore. Netting a less than estimated 8.50 crores from India during the opening week, BLOOD MONEY will still sail to safety, thanks to the already recovered non-theatrical rights.

The other release of the same week, RCL Motion Pictures and TF1 International, France's BUMBOO saw a miserable run as it collected 7 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.75 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 5.35 lakhs from Delhi city, 1 lakh from Noida, 1.65 lakhs from Gurgaon and 1 lakh from Bangalore.
