DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI
This week will see the release of Madhur Bhandarkar's Ajay, Emraan, Omi and Shruti starrer, DIL TOH BACCHA HAI JI. The cheeky promos of the film have managed to arouse some curiosity plus a couple of tracks too (especially the Thailand picturised "Abhi Kuch Dino Se") have started getting popular and so the film is expected to see a decent start.

The opening of last Friday's Kiran Rao directed Aamir-Prateik starrer DHOBI GHAT was never expected to be earth shattering as the film was primarily aimed at the multiplex audience. The start was slow but the collections picked up noticeably during the evening shows and the film had a decent weekend. Given the low release cost of 11 crores (inclusive of print and publicity) DHOBI GHAT will be a safe bet for all concerned (profitable for the Bombay and South distributors), once the non-theatrical rights have been accounted for. DHOBI GHAT has done well in the Overseas grossing a decent £118,600 from UK and a good $365,297 from the US during the opening weekend (21-23 January). The other release of the week, Manish Gupta's HOSTEL is a washout.

The fantastic collections of YAMLA PAGLA DEEWANA in the North and Central India as also in Gujarat & Saurashtra, have brought back the smiles on the faces of the trade people. In other circuits too the film has done reasonably well. During the week YAMLA PAGLA DEEWAANA collected 3.85 crores from Bombay, 1.35 crores from Ahmedabad, 22 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 2.50 lakhs from Vapi, 5 lakhs from Bharuch (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 3.65 lakhs from Palanpur, 3.20 lakhs from Patan, 16 lakhs from Rajkot (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 5.50 lakhs from Jamnagar, 3.65 lakhs from Gandhidham, 2.75 lakhs from Adipur, 25 lakhs from Pune (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.30 lakhs from Satara, 2 lakhs from Karad, 4.50 lakhs from Solapur, 1.30 lakhs from Sangli, 10 lakhs from Nasik, 2.55 lakhs from Malegaon, 8.35 lakhs from Goa, 5.70 lakhs from Hubli, 5.50 lakhs from Belgaum, 1.35 lakhs from Dharwad, 1.20 lakhs from Gadag, 4.35 crores from Delhi city, 50 lakhs from Noida, 37.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 32.50 lakhs Kanpur, 50 lakhs from Lucknow, 24.35 lakhs from Agra, 15.25 lakhs from Allahabad, 5 lakhs from Bijnore, 17.40 lakhs from Meerut, 4 lakhs from Moradabad , 2.55 lakhs from Bareilly (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 6.25 lakhs from Gorakhpur, 4 lakhs from Muzaffarnagar, 3.35 lakhs from Mathura, 80 lakhs from Gurgaon, 40 lakhs from Faridabad, 10.25 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 2 lakhs from Hissar, 15.75 lakhs from Panipat, 35 lakhs from Chandigarh, 10.65 lakhs from Zirakpur, 18.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 12.20 lakhs from Ambala, 12.10 lakhs from Bhatinda, 17.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 15.25 lakhs Patiala, 16.50 lakhs from Amritsar, 7.55 lakhs from Pathankot, 27.20 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 4.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 5.50 lakhs from Guwahati, 1 lakh from Dibrugarh, 28.65 lakhs from Nagpur, 12.65 lakhs from Jabalpur, 5.35 lakhs from Amravati, 3.50 lakhs from Akola, 1.25 lakhs from Dhule, 18 lakhs from Raipur, 4 lakhs from Durg, 2 lakhs from Chhindwara, 2 lakhs from Wardha, 4.55 lakhs from Chandrapur, 3.35 lakhs from Khandwa, 41 lakhs from Indore (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 3 lakhs from Sehore, 6 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 11.30 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 3 lakhs from Ujjain, 91.25 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 10.20 lakhs from Ajmer, 10.60 lakhs from Bikaner, 17.75 lakhs from Kota, 1.65 lakhs from Sriganganagar, 1.45 lakhs from Kishangarh, 50 lakhs from Hyderabad, 1.10 lakhs from Warangal, 6.55 lakhs from Aurangabad, 2.55 lakhs from Nanded, 5.50 lakhs from Latur, 1 lakh from Parbhani, 1.75 lakhs from Udgir, 3 lakhs from Gulbarga, 23 lakhs from Bangalore, 3 lakhs from Mangalore, 2 lakhs from Davangere and 2.50 lakhs from Vishakhapatnam.
