MILEY NAA MILEY HUM
This Friday will see multiple releases in the form of LOOT, MILEY NAA MILEY HUM, TENSION DOOOOR and NA JAANE KABSE. One feels that none of the films will make much of an impact at the ticket window and the week (rather 9-day) old RA.ONE will remain the first choice once more.

The solo pre-Diwali release, the Chandrakant Singh directed Rajneesh, Tanisha, Rajpal and Shilpi starrer, BE-CAREFUL, faced rejection from the first show and has netted a paltry 25 lakhs during the opening week. Needless to add that BE-CAREFUL can only be termed as a washout.

The three Diwali releases, Shah Rukh Khan’s RA.ONE, Himesh’s DAMADAMM! and Esha Deol’s TELL ME O KKHUDA went the expected way. The Anubhav Sinha directed RA.ONE saw a super start on the first day though the evening and night shows were obviously hit by ‘Diwali’ pooja and celebrations, still the film netted 15 crore from India(the best ‘Diwali’ day total!) surpassing all others except BODYGUARD. Thursday saw collections of RA.ONE hitting the roof, netting in excess of 23 crore, a new single day record. During the extended 5-day weekend RA.ONE has netted around 81-82 crores from just the Hindi version (87 crores after adding the dubbed Tamil & Telugu versions). In the overseas too RA.ONE has done splendid business grossing £909,000 from UK during the extended weekend (26-30 October) and $1,654,023 from US during the opening weekend (28-30 October). Given that RA.ONE has already recovered a major portion of its investment, thanks to the great opening weekend globally and the handsome sundry earnings, the film will have to show some stability in the second week as well, to be declared a clean success.

The other two releases, DAMADAMM! and TELL ME O KKHUDA, that released a day after RA.ONE, achieved negligible collections While TELL ME O KKHUDA netted about 90-95 lakhs, DAMADAMM! was even lower getting about half of that during the weekend.

After an average first week, Y-Films’ MUJHSE FRAANDSHIP KAROGE managed quite a stable second week collecting 45 lakhs from Bombay, 7.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 2 lakhs from Surat, 2 lakhs from Baroda, 1.55 lakhs from Rajkot, 3.35 lakhs from Pune, 1 lakh from Goa, 12.75 lakhs from Delhi city, 3 lakhs from Noida, 1 lakh from Kanpur, 2 lakhs from Lucknow, 1 lakh from Allahabad, 2.30 lakhs from Gurgaon, 5 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 2 lakhs from Indore, 1.10 lakhs from Bhopal, 5 lakhs from Jaipur, 1 lakh from Kota, 1 lakh from Udaipur, 3.60 lakhs from Hyderabad, 4.25 lakhs from Bangalore and 1 lakh from Mangalore. Adding another 1.85 crores MUJHSE FRAAANDSHIP KAROGE has netted 5.35 crores in two weeks from India and will escape to safety after accounting for the non-theatrical rights.

Moving on, Sanjay Leela Bhansali banner and UTV Motions Pictures’ MY FRIEND PINTO crashed completely in the second week as it collected 5 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 12 cinemas unreceived) and managed negligible collections elsewhere. With another 25 lakhs MY FRIEND PINTO has netted 1.50 crores in two weeks from India and has failed.

Meanwhile Prashanth Chadha’s AAZAAN finds no takers as it collected 10 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 27 cinemas unreceived), 2.65 lakhs from Delhi city, 1 lakh from Noida and 1 lakh from Lucknow. Adding a further 50 lakhs AAZAAN has netted 2.25 crores in two weeks from India and is an unmitigated disaster.

Concluding with David Dhawan’s Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn starrer, RASCALS, the film went from bad to worse as it collected 15 lakhs from Bombay, 1 lakh from Ahmedabad, 1 lakh from Pune, 7.75 lakhs from Delhi city, 2.10 lakhs from Noida, 1.35 lakhs from Kanpur, 2.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.15 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.50 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.50 lakhs from Bhopal, 9 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 2.25 lakhs from Hyderabad and 2.50 lakhs from Bangalore. Adding a further 85 lakhs RASCALS has netted 34.60 crores in three weeks from India and is a commercial failure. The film has also been rejected in the Overseas grossing £235,000 from UK till the fourth weekend (28-30 October) and $261,156 from US.
