HOUSEFULL 2

This week will see the release of Sajid Khan’s HOUSEFULL 2, the next in the highly successful HOUSEFULL series. Given the big cast comprising Rishi, Mithun, Akshay, John, Boman, Asin, Riteish, Zarine, Jacqueline and Shazahn etc, the superb promotion, and the popular music, the Sajid Nadiadwala film is all set to embark on a good to bumper start, this Friday.

Last Friday’s Kunal Khemu starrer, BLOOD MONEY, saw a decent weekend (as we had indicated on Saturday) netting around 5.50-6 crore. The weekdays too were quite steady on the middle end. Given the all inclusive cost of less than 10 crore, the Vishal Mahadkar directed BLOOD MONEY will be a profitable venture (not a big success) for the Bhatt camp, thanks to the non-theatrical rights. The film though has not done well in the overseas. The other release of last Friday, BUMBOO, has been rejected at the ticket window.

Meanwhile the collections of Illuminati Films’ Saif-Kareena starrer, AGENT VINOD, began to fall heavily from the first Monday, and alarmingly from Tuesday. The film collected 4.50 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.15 crore from Ahmedabad, 28.55 lakhs from Surat, 30.65 lakhs from Baroda, 40.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 47.35 lakhs from Pune, 21 lakhs from Nasik, 11 lakhs from Goa, 6.75 lakhs from Belgaum, 4.65 crore from Delhi city, 52 lakhs from Noida, 42.75 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 30 lakhs from Kanpur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 56.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 13.35 lakhs from Agra, 14.35 lakhs from Allahabad, 5.40 lakhs from Aligarh, 85 lakhs from Gurgaon, 14 lakhs from Faridabad, 6.50 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 8.65 lakhs from Panipat, 26 lakhs from Chandigarh, 11.35 lakhs from Jalandhar, 9 lakhs from Amritsar, 8.75 lakhs from Ludhiana, 7.50 lakhs from Bhatinda, 6.35 lakhs from Ambala, 1.10 crore from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 8.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 35 lakhs from Nagpur, 15.25 lakhs from Jabalpur, 22.75 lakhs from Raipur, 45 lakhs from Indore (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 9 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 30 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 85.20 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 9 lakhs from Ajmer, 14 lakhs from Kota, 13.35 lakhs from Udaipur, 95 lakhs from Hyderabad, 13.50 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 1.15 crore from Bangalore, 8.15 lakhs from Mangalore, 5.50 lakhs from Vijayawada, 8 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 10.20 lakhs from Madras (collections from other cinemas unreceived) and 3.20 lakhs from Kochi. Netting around 38 crore during the opening week AGENT VINOD will struggle for recovery despite having pocketed 25 crores via satellite and audio rights. AGENT VINOD has under-performed in the overseas (especially in UK) grossing £276,500 from UK and $632,500 from the US till the second weekend (March 30 - April 1)

Moving on, Vidya Balan’s KAHAANI continues to rock the box-office with another bountiful week as it collected 1.80 crore from Bombay, 50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 11.15 lakhs from Surat, 17.55 lakhs from Baroda, 10 lakhs from Rajkot, 50.50 lakhs from Pune, 5.25 lakhs from Nasik, 4.30 lakhs from Goa, 1.75 lakhs from Belgaum, 80 lakhs from Delhi city, 15.30 lakhs from Noida, 3.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 4 lakhs from Kanpur, 8.65 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.25 lakhs from Agra, 1.20 lakhs from Allahabad, 18 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.75 lakhs from Faridabad, 5.75 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 60 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 4 lakhs from Siliguri, 10.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 3.55 lakhs from Raipur, 2.50 lakhs from Jabalpur, 8.55 lakhs from Indore, 4 lakhs from Bhopal, 8.50 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 1.50 lakhs from Kota, 1.75 lakhs from Udaipur, 20 lakhs from Hyderabad, 1.35 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 60 lakhs from Bangalore, 4.50 lakhs from Mangalore, 2.10 lakhs from Visakhapatnam and 10 lakhs from Madras (approx). Concluding with Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Irrfan Khan starrer, PAAN SINGH TOMAR, the film saw another rewarding week collecting 17 lakhs from Bombay, 5.25 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.35 lakhs from Pune, 20 lakhs from Delhi city, 5.20 lakhs from Noida, 1.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 2.75 lakhs from Lucknow, 6.35 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.65 lakhs from Chandigarh, 3 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.35 lakhs from Jabalpur, 2 lakhs from Raipur, 2.10 lakhs from Gwalior , 2.50 lakhs from Jaipur , 2.75 lakhs from Hyderabad and 5.10 lakhs from Bangalore. Adding another crore PAAN SINGH TOMAR has netted 15.50 crore in four weeks from India and is a semi-hit. PAAN SINGH TOMAR though has not impressed in the overseas grossing £16,000 in the UK and $40,000 from the US.
