The Seven Islands International Film Festival, which took place in Chennai from October 26-29, 2012, was a celebration of global auteurs in Cinemas that use film as an artistic language, defining it with its own aesthetics and idiosyncrasies.

The theme of this year’s festival was ‘Women Rising, Against All Odds’ and was an ode to women across the world and a celebration of their unique and remarkable achievements.

At the after party of Seven Islands International Film Festival, Mr. Dibakar Banerjee, who also attended the event, said jokingly leaving the audiences in Chennai in a frenzy, adding that south films are very original and have this quality in keeping their audiences captivated and there’s a lot that we filmmakers from Mumbai have to learn from, as we love picking up their concepts and making remakes out of them. Mumbai directors are scared of South directors.
