ABHISHEK BACHCHAN in KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY
Though Abhishek Bachchan is essaying the role of freedom fighter Masterda Surjyo Sen in his upcoming film KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, his favourite freedom fighter happens to be Chandrashekhar Azad. He finds him quite influential and admires the way Chandrashekhar Azad used to conduct himself.

Abhishek can't stop raving about his favourite freedom fighter, "I like what he stood for. I have heard lot about him growing up. My father used to tell that my grandpa also met him few times. His heroism always attracted me. The fact that he sent shivers down the British Raj always attracted me. Such was his aura, even in Alfred Park when they assassinated him, for hours nobody went near because they were scared that he'd get up from the dead. For anybody to instill such kind of fear is I think he was quite heroic."

When asked if he would like to portray Chandrashekhar's character on-screen sometime in future. Abhishek promptly replied, "If given an opportunity then obviously I would love to play. Like I said, I didn't know who Surjyoda was and now after playing him I think he is equally heroic. "

Further he added, "There are so many great characters right from Alexandar coming down to Indian history. Who wouldn't want to play? I mean there are enough characters in our own History alone to talk about. I think I have tasted blood with KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY now."

Playing a historical character obviously comes with lot of responsibility. When you base any character on real person it becomes quite challenging to do justice with it. How easy or difficult it was for Abhishek to sort it out?

"The responsibility is definitely huge...because you don't want to be dishonest or disrespectful to the person. That was something I was very conscious of. Surjyoda was a great man, he made the supreme sacrifice for the country and I don't want to disrespect that. I also somewhere back of the mind understand that this current generation doesn't not know who Surjyo da is and may be after watching the film they might start seeing the character as we have presented in the film. Film is a very influential medium. Tomorrow when somebody refers to Surjyoda they'll recollect what Abhishek played and did in KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY. So certainly you have to be responsible and as accurate as possible, you have to accord them the respect & dignity which they deserve,"says Abhishek.

Well Abhishek, we truly agree and respect your point and we are sure that you must have put all your jee jaan for the character.
