ABHISHEK BACHCHAN in KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY
ACK Media, (publishers of Amar Chitra Katha, Tinkle and Karadi Tales) India’s leading entertainment and Education Company for young audiences, has collaborated with PVR Pictures and Ashutosh Gowariker Productions to make the younger generation more aware about the unsung hero of India’s freedom movement, Surjya Sen. ACK Is launching their 2nd new Amar Chitra Katha title this year after the phenomenal success of Mother Teresa. Ashutosh Gowariker Productions is also releasing their forthcoming period THRILLER KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY at the same time.

The film stars Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone along with Sikander Kher Vishakha Singh, Samrat Mukherji, Maninder Singh, Feroz Wahid Khan & Shreyas Pandit.

The Amar Chitra Katha title ‘Surjya Sen – The Chittagong Uprising’ is based on Arijit Dutta Chowdhary’s meticulously researched illustrations to bring to life the turbulent revolutionaries of British-ruled Bengal in the 1930's.

“We have referred to Manini Chatterjee's book on the Chittagong Armoury Raid, “Do And Die: The Chittagong Uprising 1930-34” and the accounts of the freedom fighters themselves in Mallikarjuna Sharma's “Easter Rebellion in India: The Chittagong Uprising,” said Arijit Dutta. “I was lucky enough to know the history of Surjya Sen through an old Bengali film. It made a good impact on me as I was only 7-8 years old at the time. After so many years I am happy to get a chance to work on this title. Initially, I was reluctant to work on it, but while working, I started to get more involved. It was a rare and one of the most cherished experiences for me, working on Amar chitra Katha title on Surjya Sen.  These 35 days of drawing were like a journey, re-living each of the characters in the book”, he added.

The Amar Chitra Katha title is slated to hit the market in the first week of December. Speaking on this tie-up with Amar Chitra Katha, Ashutosh Gowariker, director of Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey said, “The Indian freedom struggle was not a unified movement until near the end – for a long time, it was a disparate collection of separate little uprisings against the injustices of British rule. Many of these struggles are no longer remembered in our text-books. The Chittagong Uprising of 1930 is one of these forgotten struggles and I hope through my film and Amar Chitra Katha, Surjya Sen becomes a known freedom fighter across India like the others”
