Ajay Devgn: My films don't bore people

AJAY DEVGN in SINGHAM
Ajay Devgn is all set to enter the 100 crores club. His SINGHAM is now nearing the 100 crores mark just in India, hence bringing him neck to neck with only two other men who have achieved this feat so far - Aamir Khan and Salman Khan.

Ask Ajay about the raaz behind good success rate of his films and he says, "It's as simple as that. If you try to teach people something by showing them films, they will obviously get bored. They are not spending 150 bucks to hear your lecture. Better give them some entertainment. They should think ki main iski jagah hoon, main villain ko maar sakta hoon, ya phir main iske saath hans sakta hoon. They should feel good and that's exactly what I also do by not boring them," says Ajay.

He has all the right reasons to say that. After all every Hindi film which has crossed the 100 crores mark in the last few years has been a quintessential entertainer, whether it is 3 IDIOTS, DABANGG, READY, GHAJINI or GOLMAAL 3. While Aamir has ruled the roost in a couple of them, Salman has pitched in with two of his films as well. As for GOLMAAL 3, it again featured Ajay though it was a multistarrer. However SINGHAM is one film which he can entirely call as his own.

What also makes SINGHAM a smash success is the fact that just like majority of other Ajay Devgn starrers, this one too was made in a controlled budget and sold at appropriate price without anything going overboard.

"Yes, and over and above that, it was planned very well also. We started and finished it in quick time and that was possible due to terrific planning. Moreover the budget too wasn't ridiculous which resulted in a win-win situation for all. We made the film at a decent price and there wasn't anything exorbitant about it," Ajay adds.

Well, now it has to be seen whether RASCALS continues the trend for Ajay.
