Akshay: Pleasing India is more important than breaking boundaries

Last six months have been quite interesting for Akshay Kumar. Though he hasn't had a film of his arrive since THANK YOU, the time period gone by has seen Akshay signing some interesting bunch of flicks, most of which belong to varied genres unlike the series of comedies that he had done during last 3-4 years. With films like DESI BOYZ, ROWDY RATHORE, ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI 2, HOUSEFULL 2 and JOKER in the pipeline, seems like Akshay has a job cut out for him. One wonders whether Akshay's thought behind this was to please a larger segment of audience base.
"See, pleasing India is far greater than pleasing intellectuals across the globe or breaking boundaries. Even I have learnt that now," reflects Akshay, "There have been quite a few instances where I have tried to create something new and keep things a bit spicy. However deep down I always know what's going to work and what won't."
He isn't against the idea of experimentation though.
"That's right," he says, "I will never stop myself or any other filmmaker from trying to break the norm. This is what evolution is always about. One should love what he has got but then you should always want something more as well."
However seems like there would be some more time before any experimentation takes shape. Till then it is pretty much going to be masala flavour, what with DESI BOYZ all set to add on to all the masti and dhamaal this November.
