Akshay's suggestion convinced Chitrangada for DESI BOYZ

In his career lasting over a couple of decades, Akshay Kumar must have introduced at least a dozen odd newbie in the world of Bollywood. However it was different in case of Chitrangada Singh who was already an acclaimed actor before she stepped into commercial films. While there were offers galore ever since she impressed one and all with her bravura act in HAZAARON KHWAHISHEIN AISI, the clincher was the suggestion coming from Akshay which motivated her enough to make her foray into a 'masala' affair like DESI BOYZ.
"Let me be honest here, I was in fact looking at doing commercial films. Of course I hadn't been able to decide that it would be with which film. This is when Rohit (Dhawan) came to me and narrated DESI BOYZ. He also said that he had me in mind when he was writing the film. I too felt that when a first timer had so much faith in me, there must be something good about the film and the role," says Chitrangada.
"However what really convinced me further was the suggestion which came from Akshay. He said that since I was anyways looking at making a foray into commercial cinema, it must be with DESI BOYZ that had all the trappings of being a successful film," continues Chitrangada who had impressed earlier this year with yet another fantastic act in YEH SAALI ZINDAGI.
While there wasn't much for Chitrangada to ponder after assurance came from Akshay himself that she would be well taken care of in the film and there would be enough moments that would ensure that she would be presented well, the lady had added reasons to jump into the project.
"I felt that with Akshay, John and Deepika in the film, it was a good commercial set up which would act as a good cushion for me as well. After all, everything about the film wasn't really riding in me so I could afford to take a baby step with this film," acknowledges Chitrangada.
Here is hoping that the baby step is worth it Chitrangada.
