Young woman filmmaker Shilpa Munikempanna has reportedly called Anurag Kashyap a sexist for dropping her film from Large Short Films’ collaborative project THE LAST ACT. Shilpa was one of the applicants among the 600 entries and has claimed that Kashyap rejected her film just because she was the only female contender who made it to the top 12 directors.
The 12 chosen filmmakers were given a budget and a script for a short film, and then the 12 short films were made into one feature film.
Reports also claim that Shilpa accused Anurag of being unfair by not paying her wages for the hard work she has put in.
Anurag Kashyap retorted to the accusations made against him. He tweeted, “Well I have become the system now…. What a powerful letter… But my job was to choose filmmakers and give a story seed…Rest no idea…." added later: "You could have opted out before but you didn't...thanks for the free publicity."
