While Aamir Khan is overjoyed with PEEPLI [LIVE] being India's official entry for the Oscars, director Anusha Rizvi doesn't sound very excited.
"I'm very happy. Give me the Oscar and I'll happily go and take it," is what Anusha says initially after a panel discussion at the Mumbai Film Festival. After probing her a bit more, she says, "Why should there be so much excitement about the Oscars here? Had the film gone to a proper international forum like the Berlin, which is truly an international forum, it would have been a different ball game."
She firmly adds, "I didn't make PEEPLI [LIVE] for the Oscars. The film has been made for a certain reason. It's a political film made for the people of India to watch. They may dislike it. But let them see it and discuss it. The Oscars are just America's national awards. I will not be going to promote PEEPLI [LIVE] in USA."
On being asked about her future projects, Anusha said, "I've been going through a couple of scripts. But there's nothing concrete yet."
