ARJUN KAPOOR in AURANGZEB
Though AURANGZEB didn't quite take the kind of bumper start that was expected from it, the film did hang on over the weekend and is now looking at sustaining itself over the weekdays. Though there are a few who have wondered if the film would have done better with lesser sub-plots, and hence the characters, it appears that this is exactly the way first time director Atul Sabharwal wanted his film to unfold.
"Atul indeed had a task in hand and he wanted to work with all these actors. He believes in the power of performances and wanted actors who bring integrity to all these wonderful characters that he had to his disposal," says Arjun, "He wanted to make an ensemble star cast film where actors bring certain integrity element to the characters."
For his double role in particular, Arjun is thrilled with the fact that Atul took good enough care to make him comfortable with the varied set up and milieu that Ajay and Vishal (names of his characters) found themselves in.
"He was very patient with me, especially since I had a double role to play," smiles Arjun, "He was always accessible and we shared a great bond. I am sure every actor who has worked with him would say that he is one guy who cares for you so much and brings in a lot of positive energy."
On a final note, he adds, "It needs guts to make your debut with a production house like Yash Raj Films and still make something that moves away from the kind of films that they make. AURANGZEB was devoid of any typical song and dance routine and Atul still managed to pull it off and give audience something new."
