Ashutosh: I never carry an emotional baggage

Despite a LAGAAN, SWADES and JODHAA AKBAR behind him, Ashutosh Gowariker isn't willing to disown his other work. Though one would have expected that he would have left behind his WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? (which was a box office failure) or PEHLA NASHA (his lesser known debut flick), the fact is that he still fondly remembers each of his outings.
"I can't help it as I can never disassociate myself from any of my films. I am as much attached to PEHLA NASHA as I am with LAGAAN. For that matter, I remember BAAZI as much as my WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE?", says Ashu who is now ready with his yet another period drama.
One can't help but ask him that whether the failure of WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? loomed large in his head when he began filming for his Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone starrer KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY? After all there was hardly any time gap between the two films with his revolutionary tale going on floors pretty soon after the Harman Baweja-Priyanka Chopra debacle.
"Yes, it was a very big moment for me that WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? didn't do well for me at that time", confesses Ashu, "However, there is a difference between being attached to your film or being overtly emotional about it. No, I never carry an emotional baggage, whether there is triumph or failure. I reset everything to zero before getting started again."
This meant that while he left WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? behind him, he conditioned himself to start afresh on KHELEIN HUM....
"What also keeps you going is the fact that there are those tiny sweet moments when people appreciate you for your work", says Ashu, "For example, I feel good when people SMS me after watching WHAT'S YOUR RAASHEE? on TV that they liked it. Or for that matter when I am called to schools for the screening of SWADES. It's my choice not to get overtly emotional about such things and instead keep myself grounded and focused towards my new film."
