BAPPI LAHIRI
The 'Disco King' of Bollywood, Bappi Lahiri, who introduced Hindi film industry with the foot-tapping rock and jazz music, is re-living 80's era (the time when he ruled) with the upcoming film THE DIRTY PICTURE. The sensuous, raunchy number 'Ooh LA LA...' from THE DIRTY PICTURE which Bappi da has sung, has the touch of 80's. The song has already created huge waves and Bappi is quite happy with it.

Says Bappi, "Ooh La La...is an awesome song. After a long time I enjoyed singing. The wordings, picturisation and choreography of the song are just mind-blowing. The ambience of 80's is recreated with this song. Thanks to Milan Luthria ji, the director and music composer duo Vishal-Shekhar they have done outstanding work. Both Vishal-Shekhar and I are lucky for each other. I am very happy with the response."

Not just in India even at the international level the cheeky song has received overwhelming response. Bappi, who was recently in Los Angeles as he is the jury member in the GRAMMY awards, was highly praised for the song. Says Bappi, "When I was in LA people came to me and said that the promos are looking fantastic and we have really loved it."

Vidya Balan, who features in the song, has stumped one and all including the notable music composer Bappi Lahiri. "Vidya Balan...I have become fan of her. She has danced very well in the song. She is a very talented actress," says the Bengali musician, who is smitten by Vidya's sensuous dancing style and is going ga-ga over her.

This isn't the first time that Bappi has sung for Milan Luthria. Half a decade ago for his John Abraham-Nana Patekar starrer TAXI NO. 9211, Bappi had rendered a super hit song 'Mumbai Nagariya'. "During recording Milanji said this song (Ooh La La) will also rock the charts and will be superhit like 'Mumbai Nagariya'," said the golden man Bappi Lahiri.

Bappi, who shares good rapport with Ekta Kapoor's family, is all praise of producer Ekta, the creative head behind the song. Says Bappi, "Ekta is like my daughter. I share good familial ties with Ekta's family especially with Jeetendra. Ekta is very talented she knows how to market and gain eyeballs."

Ask him about best music era in Bollywood and quite elatedly he says, "80's era was outstanding. Musically it was fantastic which is not so today. Till mid 90's it was fine. Today songs come and go. I miss that era. My style of songs will never become old because the kind of beats my songs have are very catchy."

THE DIRTY PICTURE, slated to release on December 2 revolves around the life of yesteryear sex siren Silk Smitha.
