Bhandarkar gives Shraddha a makeover in DTBHJ

For Shraddha Das (of LAHORE fame), DIL TOH BACHCHA HAI JI couldn't have come at a better time. It was early this year when her effort as a Pakistani doctor was recognised in critically acclaimed LAHORE, a film about kick boxing and Indo-Pak relationships. However, she wasn't seen in a commercial setup where she could enjoy the naach gaana of the quintessential Bollywood world. What worked in her favour though was that she did see some good reviews coming her way in a role that still allowed her at least a couple of powerful scenes. No wonder, Madhur Bhandarkar felt that due to the promise that Shraddha showed as an actor, she would well suit his slice of life entertainer.
"I liked what Shraddha did in LAHORE," says Bhandarkar who is currently shooting the film in Mumbai, "I had made a note of her performance and felt that she deserved a film where she could reach out to a wider audience."
The fact remains though that in LAHORE, Shraddha was clad in 'suit-salwar' right through the narrative which was totally non-glam. Since DIL TOH BACHCHA HAI JI is a far commercial film, would Shraddha suit the bill?
"She would be getting a complete image makeover in my film," says the director in a confident tone, "What you will see in DIL TOH BACHCHA HAI JI will be totally opposite to what Shraddha did in LAHORE. Also, she makes a good pairing with Omi Vaidya as they play contrasting characters. While Omi is an idealistic individual, Shraddha is far more playful. She would also be donning a far more glamorous persona."
