Gangs are in fashion, and we are not talking about the ones that are usually seen in Ram Gopal Varma films. While this year we had two parts of GANGS OF WASSEYPUR hitting the screens one after another, next year would see two different films with a gangster holding center stage - GULAB GANG and SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER RETURNS.
Incidentally both films were earlier slated to release on the same day i.e. 8th March. However the clash has been averted now.
'It couldn't have been just coincidence that SAHEB BIWI AUR GANGSTER RETURNS decided to arrive on the same day as GULAB GANG. Date had been decided for the latter long ago and there was no one else who pitched in either since it would be Madhuri Dixit's comeback film. However Tigmanshu Dhulia and the producers of SAHEB BIWI.... went ahead and picked their slot,” informs a source.
While Madhuri is playing the head of the namesake gang, it is Irrfan Khan who plays gangster this time around, in the much awaited sequel starring Jimmy Sheirgill as the Saheb, and Mahie Gill as Biwi.
However just when it seemed that the two similar sounding films would want to come in each other's path, GULAB GANG has moved ahead. This also means that coming together of two powerhouse performers, Irrfan Khan and Madhuri Dixit, won't happen for at least some more time to come.
'IF SAHEB BIWI... is coming on the date that has been suddenly made available then they have a valid argument though,” says an insider who has closely followed the making of the film, 'After all, their shooting was completed long time back and they are ready for quite some time now. On the other hand Madhuri is yet to face the camera for GULAB GANG.'
