Fox Star Studios India strikes gold again with THE A- TEAM

Rating:

BRADLEY COOPER in THE A-TEAM
Fox Star Studios' THE A- TEAM has truly lived up to its name, bagging the No .1 opening for the week in India, surpassing TOY STORY 3 and another Bollywood film that released simultaneously on June 25th.

Grossing a total of $ 1 million (Rupees 4.6 crores), from its English and Hindi versions in its opening weekend, the Bradley Cooper - Liam Neeson starrer has got the 4th Biggest Hollywood opening of the year after CLASH OF THE TITANS, PRINCE OF PERSIA and IRON MAN 2. THE A-TEAM's opening weekend is also the 7th biggest opening of all time in India, for a non franchise film.

Infact, the Hindi version of THE A-TEAM is doing extremely well in all the markets and has contributed to about 50% of the collections. The collections from North India alone are a staggering Rs. 1.5 crores for the opening weekend, which is the third biggest this year for any Hollywood film.

Commenting on the exceptional success of the film, Mr. Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios India says "A-TEAM's exciting blend of action and comedy has worked very well with the Indian audiences and is generating very positive word of mouth. In particular, the response from the Hindi speaking markets is very enthusiastic and we expect the film to pick up further momentum in the week ahead."

The strong, positive word of mouth promotions for the film has generated a huge interest among other regional markets, opening new avenues for the film. In lieu of this success, Fox Star Studios India is now considering to release it in Tamil as well. Thus, while Bollywood movies continue their indifferent run at the Indian BO, Hollywood has managed to strike gold yet again with THE A- TEAM!

Another noteworthy achievement for Fox Star is India's performance for THE A- TEAM in the international scenario. India has become one of the top contributors to the overall international collections, ranking as the 7th highest opening weekend collections for the film across the world, including the US and the 2nd biggest opening weekend for the film in Asia.

Directed by Joe Carnahan, THE A- TEAM or A TEAM- KHATRON KE KHILADI in Hindi, is a remake of the popular 1983 television series about four US Army Special Forces soldiers-turned-mercenaries trying to clear their names. Loaded with true-to-character performances, wacky gadgets, campy comedy, goofy disguises, and solid action sequences abound, THE A- TEAM is a film for everyone.
