Imran Khan: Karan Johar resurrected my career

IMRAN KHAN in EK MAIN AUR EKK TU
The mutable nature of Bollywood industry is such that a single flop can make a severe dent to one’s career and crash it like a pack of cards. A single flop can make you loner in the industry and no filmmaker would even dare to rope in a star whose career is in jeopardy.

But as luck would have it, when our good-looking actor Imran Khan was going through a low phase instead of getting written-off he got a chance to play second innings in the film industry. And it was, no not mamu Aamir as you may have thought so, Karan Johar who resurrected his career by giving him a chance in his film I HATE LUV STORYS.

Imran took Bollywood by storm by debuting in Aamir Khan’s production JAANE TU YAA JAANE NE. Thereafter he was touted as the next big thing in Bollywood. However his two back-to-back duds LUCK and KIDNAP gave a huge setback to his career. But when Kjo’s I HATE LUV STORYS released it gave a new lease of life to Imran’s career.

Now that the duo is back together once again with a new film EK MAIN AUR EKK TU, Imran reminisces the good deeds of Karan Johar. “I have lot of respect for Karan. Karan offered me I HATE LUV STORYS when I was at very low point in my career. I just had two back-to-back flops and I had no offers on hand. I was getting poor stuff to do – playing second hero or third hero in the film. At that point Karan offered me I HATE LUV STORYS, a solo lead film. The film turned out to be a hit and gave me a new lease of life. I always remember when I was at my low point it was Karan who pulled me out of this. So I have lot of affection for him,” Imran gets candid.

Imran not only shares a good bond with Karan Johar but is also fond of director Shakun Batra, “Actually Shakun Batra, the director of this film, is a very good friend of mine. He assisted on JAANE TU (not to forget he even featured in the popular song ‘Pappu Can’t Dance Saala’) and since then we are good pals. With Karan I share a good personal equation. We get on well together and I like him a lot. When Shakun got his script ready Karan was the first person I thought of. I brought him to Karan and he loved the script. He met Shakun and felt he is the right guy to direct the film. So it’s more of like-minded people working together. We like each other personally, we respect each other professionally.”

Also starring Kareena Kapoor, EK MAIN AUR EKK TU will spread its magic on 10th February 2012.
