In Ed Norton shoes, Neil is ready to surprise

NEIL NITIN MUKESH
Neil Nitin Mukesh is bubbling with excitement. Director duo Abbas-Mustan would be back from their location scouting soon and Neil Nitin Mukesh would soon be sitting with them to finalise the look and graph of the character that he plays in the remake of THE ITALIAN JOB. For starters, it has been finalised that Neil would be playing the character which was originally enacted by Edward Norton in the 2003 released Hollywood thriller.

"And I can promise you that the Indianised character would have a far getter depth and excitement,” says Neil in a perked up tone as he patiently waits for the film to go on floors.

Directed by F. Gary Gray, THE ITALIAN JOB was about a gang of robbers who created the largest traffic jam in Los Angeles history, hence giving them time to pull off a theft of gold bullion. The act also involved a smart presence of Mini Coopers which were small enough to drive on sidewalks so that they could make a clean get away before the traffic jam cleared.

"You would see a similar element of fun and thrills in the Hindi remake as well," confirms Neil who is happy about playing a holds-no-bar baddie in the Hindi remake, "You saw one side of Ed Norton in the original. However, my character is 100 times meaner than him. Be prepared to be surprised."

However, the fact remains that Neil himself was a tad surprised when a 'news broke' about him being thrown out of the film. Apparently, the makers were none too pleased with the audience response to LAFANGEY PARINDEY and hence were contemplating a different actor.

"Now how imaginative can some reporters get? I mean here I am talking to you about the film, finalising my look, studying my character and getting all set to shoot. On the other hand some others there are insinuating that there is something that they know and I don't," says Neil in an exasperated tone, "All I can see is that these stupid rumours were hardly amusing."
