A drama about Punjab politics, DHARTI is unlike anything that Jimmy has done in the past. With the film, Jimmy is pairing up with director Navaniat Singh who has already delivered two blockbuster hits in the form of MEL KARADE RABBA and TERA MERA KI RISHTA. Since this is one super hit actor-director 'jodi', one can well expect humungous pressure on Jimmy and Navaniat to deliver goods with DHARTI.
"Well, pressure is always there so there is no point denying it. There was a lot in case of DHARTI as well. Audience expectation has been humungous and we all know that people in Punjab out there are quite emotional. You can't let them down", says Jimmy who is currently enjoying the numero uno spot in films coming from the house of Punjab.
"With DHARTI though there is a sense of pride for sure", he adds, "I may have done some movies that were run of the mill. However this is one story which is straight from the roots. Main chaati khol ke keh sakta hoon that we have made this film with all the honesty and right earnest."
In the film he plays a Squadron Leader, who is seen in two different avtar due to changing circumstances around him. Since he is talking about a character transformation here, does he wish to elaborate it in more detail?
"Well, there is indeed a drastic shift but to what level does it happen is something that you would have to see in the film", Jimmy holds cards close to his chest here, "Of course there are situations around him that change but he doesn't change as a person. There is a lot of mental conflict that takes place though which turns out to be the deciding factor for the journey ahead that he wishes to take."
Marking the debut of leading lady Surveen Chawla and also starring Rannvijay Singh, Rahul Dev and Prem Chopra in principal roles, 'Dharti' releases all over on 22nd April.
