'Agneepath' has now turned out to be Karan Johar's highest grossing film in India. With over 100 crore already in it's kitty, the film has now broken records that were earlier set by his own directorial outings like MYNAME IS KHAN, KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM and KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI. Happy with the fact that his father's dream has finally come true and AGNEEPATH as a story has got its due, Karan is particularly pleased by the fact that his instinct has paid off.
"I heard out Karan Malhotra's basic idea, went by my instinct and took an impulsive decision to allow him take charge of AGNEEPATH. As you can see, a new director is born", says Karan in an ecstatic tone, now that the film has seen critical as well as commercial success. Responsible for giving break to more than half a dozen filmmakers, Karan says that it is his instinct factor that allows him to make some of the most beneficial decisions at Dharma productions. Karan says, "Our tradition is to tell stories that have certain quality attached to them when it comes to visual representation. AGNEEPATH was a winner from the story stage itself when Mukul S Anand had told it. Now it was a matter of packaging it well for today's audience and Karan Malhotra has managed to do that."
Meanwhile it is his instinct that is seemingly working all over again, now that he is already making a film each with his other protégés like Rensil (with Emraan Hashmi in the lead) and Ayan Mukherjee (Ranbir-Deepika starrer YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI.
