PEEPLI [LIVE] to be screened at IFFI 2010

Critically acclaimed PEEPLI [LIVE] will get special screening in the forthcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2010, beginning on November 22.
'The festival will host special screening of Amir Khan Production PEEPLI [LIVE] in the presence of important cast and crew,' IFFI organizers said on Saturday afternoon.
The movie is a comic satire that highlights the topic of farmers' suicide and subsequent media and political attention. The movie released in August 2010 stars Naseerudin Shah, Raghubir Yadav, Nawazuddin Sishiqui, Shalini Vasta and Malika Shenoy among others many of whom are tribals from the village of Bhadwai in Madhya Pradesh.
This is Amir's official entry to Oscars 83rd Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Film category. PEEPLI [LIVE] received the honours of being the first Indian film that contended in the Sundance Film Festival. A special screening of the movie was also held at the Berlin International Film Festival and was named as the best first feature film at the 31st Durban International Film Festival.
IFFI will also hold screenings of five non-feature films curated by the 'Golden Jubilee of the Film and Television Institute of India.'
'As part of the celebrations of the Platinum Jubilee of Odiya Cinema, five Odiya films will be screened during the festival. There will also be screening of two films associated with the work of the 'Dada Saheb Phalke Awardees' like V K Murti and D Ramanaidu,' the officials added.
