RANBIR KAPOOR in ROCKSTAR

As has always been the case with Ranbir Kapoor, he picks and chooses films quite sparsely instead of signing them by dozens. After ROCKSTAR, his next release (BARFEE) is at least six months away while the only other film that he has signed during the year gone by is YEH JAWANI HAI DEEWANI. While his contemporaries have been enjoying multiple films of theirs releasing over the year gone by and their lineup for future looking quite interesting as well, one wonders whether he feels it was indeed a right move to let ROCKSTAR pass by before he picks up something new.
"I guess I was too pre-occupied with ROCKSTAR all this while," confesses Ranbir, "To play Jordan and live and breath like him for over a year was no joke. Frankly, it took away a part of me and I could just not think about looking at anything else to pick and choose. Now I have started going through the scripts and there are three or four out of them which I have really liked. However after spending so much time with the likes of Imtiaz Ali as well as Anurag Basu, whomsoever I work with has to be someone special with something extraordinary to deliver. We have to create something magical together."
While Ranbir doesn't mind making claims around results being an after product of a filmmaking exercise, he is the first to stand up and acknowledge the fact that working on only one film at a stretch does turn out to be a taxing experience after all. More so because of his constant endeavour to get into the skin of the character and then finding hard to detach himself from it even after it is over and done with.
"This always happens with me, more so in case of ROCKSTAR since it was something special. I remember that the time period between the film's shoot being completed and the kick-start of its promotional activities was particularly disturbing for me since there was an empty space around me," Ranbir gets nostalgic here, "Playing Jordan was something special and once Imtiaz announced that we were through with the film, I suddenly felt so cut off from the whole world. It was tough to distinguish between the real and surreal world."
