RIO garners No.1 opening of all time for a Hollywood animated film

Fox Star Studios’ latest 3D family adventure film RIO has indeed won the hearts of many! Despite the ongoing cricket fever and the simultaneous release of Akshay Kumar’s THANK YOU, the film has opened to a gross of Rs 2.8 crores over the opening weekend! Directed by Carlos Saldana and featuring the voices of Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, etc, the film has garnered the No. 1 opening for any Hollywood animation film; beating records of films like ICE AGE 3, TOY STORY 3 and SHREK 4! The film has also got a better opening than local animated fares like HANUMAN, JUMBO, RAMAYAN etc. Set in the magnificent city of Rio de Janeiro and the lush rainforest of Brazil, RIO is a comedy-adventure which centers on BLU, a rare macaw who thinks he is the last of his kind. When Blu discovers there’s another - and that she’s a she - he leaves the comforts of his cage in small town Minnesota and heads to Rio. Dubbed in Hindi with voice over by Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan, Ranvir Shorey & Vinay Pathak, RIO has got 2nd biggest opening of 2011 for any Hollywood movie. Mr. Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios India says, “We are delighted by the consistently positive response to RIO from across the country.
