Fox Star Studios’ latest 3D extravaganza RIO has delighted Indian audiences with its colourful vibrancy and loveable characters. The film has grossed a whopping Rs. 10 crores in just 3 weeks after release; making it the biggest Hollywood animated film out of India, outperforming the previous highest ICE AGE 3 (Rs. 9.2 Crores), which incidentally was also directed by Carlos Saldana, and presented by Fox Star. Featuring the voices of Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Will i.am, Jamie Foxx in the English version and Sunidhi Chauhan, Shaan, Ranvir Shorey & Vinay Pathak in the Hindi version, the film has also become the 2nd biggest animated film in India of all time after Hanuman (Rs.11 Crores). With the film holding so well, especially in the 3D screens, RIO is well on its way to become the biggest animated hit in India! Mr Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios says, “We are thrilled to see RIO holding steady ground even through its third week of release & despite competition from Indian films! The film has found a connect with audiences across all age groups and is doing exceedingly well, especially in the 3D version.” Internationally too, RIO has maintained its top position for the 2nd week in a row, propelling its total Worldwide collection to a cool US $283.8 million, making it the No.1 film of 2011. Set in the magnificent city of Rio de Janeiro and the lush rainforest of Brazil, ‘RIO’ is a comedy-adventure which centers on BLU, a rare macaw who thinks he is the last of his kind. When Blu discovers there’s another - and that she’s a she - he leaves the comforts of his cage in small town Minnesota and heads to Rio.
