Fox Star Studios India’s 3D animation flick RIO has broken all records to become the biggest animated film in INDIA OF ALL TIME, beating the 2005 blockbuster HANUMAN!
Directed by Carlos Saldana (of the ICE AGE fame), RIO hit Indian theatres in early April and has already grossed more than Rs 11 crores, making it the biggest ever animated film in India.
Mr. Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios India says, “We are thrilled by the success of RIO and consider this an important landmark for animation films in India. India was never considered as a big market for Animation films, but the success of RIO has proved otherwise. This would not have been possible without the support of all our Exhibitors, Brand and Media partners, and we express our sincere gratitude to each of them. We are now confident that Indian audiences will get enamored by other forthcoming animated films as well.”
Set in the magnificent city of Rio de Janeiro and the lush rainforest of Brazil, RIO is a comedy-adventure which centers on BLU, a rare macaw who thinks he is the last of his kind. When Blu discovers there’s another – and that she’s a she – he leaves the comforts of his cage in small town Minnesota and heads to Rio.
