Rohit: DESI BOYZ is one big fat masala film

Audience have started warming up to the promos of Akshay Kumar-John Abraham starrer DESI BOYZ and while one waits to see how does the eventual product indeed look like, one thing is quite apparent that first time director Rohit Dhawan has an eye for visuals. DESI BOYZ is indeed looking like a big film while the grandeur is pretty noticeable as well. However beneath the good looking frames, one wonders how Rohit has ensured that there is a definite story to tell as well.
"See, all said and done, DESI BOYZ is one of those big fat Hindi masala films," reaffirms Rohit, "This is the kind of cinema that I have grown up on and it is this genre that allows me to have all the necessary ingredients that ensure good all-around entertainment for the audience. Also, let me tell you that DESI BOYZ is not a one track genre; you won't hear those countless rhyming punch-lines ever now and then. It isn't as if my sole intention was to make people come in and only laugh. I have seen my dad do that and trust me, it's an extremely difficult thing to do. I would rather make it more masala like."
Talking about the kind of work David Dhawan has done over last three decades, Rohit says with a sense of respect, "I strongly feel that there is no pointing aping someone who has made dozens of superhits and blockbusters over the years gone by. Instead of being a wannabe David Dhawan, I have tried to take a different route and hence my humour is little subtle here."
With Deepika Padukone and Chitrangda Singh as the leading ladies, DESI BOYZ is a co-production of Vijay Ahuja, Krishika Lulla and Jyoti Deshpande. With music by Pritam, the film releases all over on 25th November.
