Sajid Khan: I want to please largest possible audience

SAJID KHAN
HOUSEFULL 2 is making rapid progress and for director Sajid Khan it is time to score a hat trick, something that not many filmmakers have managed. While Sajid is getting constant support from his huge team of actors as well as producer Sajid Nadiadwala, one waits with bated breath to see how is he looking at addressing the wider janta who have so far seen his work in HEYY BABYY and HOUSEFULL. Even though both his films have been hits, hence ensuring 100% track record for him, there have been voices and murmurs around not everyone being enthralled with his sense of humour. Does he ever wonder how he could change this perception?

"See, such things are always a divided opinion," says Sajid in a calm tone, "Let me give you an example. Now MATRIX is supposed to be a cult film and there are many out there who love it and swear by it. However there are also some who hate the sheer concept behind MATRIX. Still, did that ever stop the film from becoming a blockbuster or finding a continued following even though over a decade has gone by since first MATRIX flick hit the screens?"

Continuing, he adds, "Same thing holds good for comedy as well. It is the most difficult genre to explore because what may work with ladies may not work for gents. What entices adults could be out of bounds for kids. Even people belonging to different strata of society would react differently to the humour. Everyone has his own opinion and my endeavour as a director is to please the largest possible spread of audience. For that I follow a thali format of making a film by bringing together multiple dishes in small quantity. Most of it is relished by the audience but then some may not please all."

With music by Sajid-Wajid, HOUSEFULL 2 boasts of a huge cast comprising of Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, John Abraham, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez, Zarine Khan, Shreyas Talpade and Shazahn Padamsee along with veterans like Mithun Chakraborty, Rishi Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor with Chunkey Pandey and Johny Lever adding on to the comic fun. The film releases all over on 5th April, the same weekend in which IPL 5 kick-starts.
