SALMAN KHAN in EK THA TIGER

That Salman Khan has made Eid his own is known to one and all. WANTED, DABANGG and now BODYGUARD, the trend is pretty clear. However next year's Eid seems wide open with no Salman Khan film in fray. It was due to this availability of slot that made many Salman Khan fans wonder if EK THA TIGER, his next biggie after BODYGUARD, could be better placed if it arrives on Eid 2012.
"Just like Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan are expected every Diwali and Christmas respectively, festival of Eid isn't the same for Salman's fans and followers who want him to bring a film on this date every year," says a trade pundit, "It is surprising that EK THA TIGER isn't looking at Eid slot for itself. With Salman and Katrina together with a Yash Raj banner at the top of it, the film would have done wonders on the festive occasion."
It isn't surprising for makers though as they have taken a well thought of call. Since current plans for BODYGUARD are to arrive soon after curtains go down on IPL 5, it makes sense to arrive with a bang as there would be no major film releasing right through the cricket season.
No wonder, Yash Raj Films have no plans to play around with their 'tiger'. When asked to comment on the possibility of EK THA TIGER moving to Eid 2012, Rafiq Gangjee of Yash Raj Films said, "No, it's releasing on 1st June, 2012." For Akshay Kumar though this would mean that while Sajid Nadiadwala's HOUSEFULL would stay on to clash with EK THA TIGER on the same day, there won't be any competition for his Ekta Kapoor produced ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI 2 which would be arriving on 17th August, the weekend that leads to Eid.
