DIL TOH BACHCHA HAI JI is a story from the past and as things stands today for Shruti Hassan, she is pretty much awaiting her next big film that would enable her to march into Bollywood. Though she has acted in a couple of films so far (including LUCK), Shruti is still waiting for that foothold that would give her a solid standing. Thankfully for her, there has been appreciation from both films but she is not yet finding a similar ground for herself the way other relative newcomers like Sonakshi Sinha or Anushka Singh are.
"Her decision to go ahead and try her luck in an all-men film LUCK was questionable by itself. Lastly, her second attempt at acting in a Hindi film with Emraan Hashmi, DIL TOH BACHCHA HAI JI, turned out to be a mere cameo which started and ended before one could say 'dil'", says a trade observer, "Still, it was surprising that when other non-filmy girls like Shazahn and Shraddha got much more mileage than Shruti in the film, even her on-screen mom (played by Tisca Chopra) had a meatier part. Some damage control was done though as she bargained for a special appearance tag."
All is not over for Shruti though as down South she has a huge project in the form of 7 AUM ARIVU which is currently being filmed. The movie is special because not just is Shruti paired opposite a huge star Surya; it also has director A.R. Murugadoss at the helm of affairs who is calling the shots three years after Aamir Khan's GHAJINI.
"While other girls from South like Anushka (not to be mistaken with Bollywood's Anushka Sharma), Kajal and Ileana are making heads turn up North, Shruti is instead putting her money on this film of hers down South", continues the observer, "With this she may be looking at securing at least one region for herself. However given her looks and lineage, it would be surprising if she doesn't come up with a major announcement for a Bollywood flick as well. It's fine if she is taking her time though. She can't afford to go wrong the third time around."
We hope so as well.
