Sonu Sood: It's flattering to work with Rajni Sir

SONU SOOD
Post DABANGG one would have expected Sonu Sood to concentrate entirely on Bollywood blockbusters and wave goodbye to south film industry for good. However that is far away from happening, what with Sonu continuing to do his juggling between North and South and picking the best of both the worlds.

"I can't even dream of showing my back to cinema that I do in South. This is one industry which has backed me up to the fullest", says Sonu who burst into Tamil/Telugu cinema with reputed films like CHANDRAMUKHI, SUPER and ATHADU in the times when he was trying hard to find his foot in Hindi cinema.

This is the reason why even though he found good recognition coming his way through films like YUVA, JODHAA AKBAR, SINGH IS KINNG and now DABANGG, he is in continuous touch with films down South. Resultantly, while ARUNDHATI fetched him awards for his menacing act as a sex maniac out on a killing spree, his newest assignment has been none less than Rajnikanth starrer RANA.

"It is flattering to be working with Rajni Sir. I worked with him in CHANDRAMUKHI half a decade back", says Sonu, "For someone who comes from Punjab and still learning Tamil/Telugu, it has been a good journey for me to be accepted whole heartedly. South industry is what has kept me busy over the years and allowed me to be choosy about my work."

He doesn't shy away from admitting that especially in South; roles are being written to justify his inclusion in their films.

"At least this is what I have been told", smiles Sonu who is kicked about beginning work on RANA, "You have seen my body of work, I don't do too many films. Even the makers understand that until and unless a role is out of the world, I won't do it."
