Rating:

LADIES VS RICKY BAHL

Bollywood is the largest film producer of India and one of the biggest film production centers in the world. Thus, it generates huge profit each year. Similarly, the year 2011 saw many chartbuster hits lining up one after the other. The production houses financing the films have thus generated massive revenues.

Yash Raj Films

Bollywood’s one of the biggest film production houses Yash Raj Films produced two films in 2011. The Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar starrer MERE BROTHER KI DULHAN earned nearly Rs. 58.501 crore and the Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma film LADIES VS RICKY BAHL collected Rs. 31.499 approximately.

Balaji Telefilms

Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms is known for producing quality content. The production house released three films in 2011 and each of these films performed relatively well. The recent release THE DIRTY PICTURE made around Rs. 76.000 crore, SHOR – IN THE CITY netted 5.250 crore nearly and RAGINI MMS collected almost Rs. 10.750 crore.

Red Chillies Entertainment

Shahrukh Khan’s RA.ONE earned about Rs. 117.013 crore. Trade experts expected the film to perform much better at the box-office, but mixed reaction from the critics and a thumps down from a section of audience couldn’t get SRK the desirable results. Red Chillies’ ALWAYS KABHI KABHI also did not fare well at the box-office. The film, which mostly had all new faces portraying the lead roles, collected a total of Rs. 3.000 crore roughly.

Aamir Khan Productions

The two releases under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, DHOBI GHAT and DELHI BELLY, were an attempt to give a platform to unconventional cinema in Bollywood. While both the films received mixed reviews from the audiences, DHOBI GHAT made a collection of Rs. 14.400 crore approximately and Delhi Belly netted more or less Rs. 55.351 crore.

Bhushan Kumar, Kishan Kumar and Rajat Rawail

The Bhushan Kumar, Kishan Kumar and Rajat Rawail film READY was a highly anticipated movie of 2011. The Salman Khan film netted a total of Rs.119.501 crore approximately. Expectations from Salman Khan increased even more from this film.

Reel Life Productions

2011s biggest hit Bodyguard netted about 143.993. Movie lovers rated the film as highly entertaining and that reflected in its box-office collections as well. With BODYGUARD, Salman Khan continues his winning streak in Bollywood.

UTV Spotboy Motion Pictures

The UTV Spotboy Motion Pictures took a risk by releasing the film NO ONE KILLED JESSICCA on January 2011. Vidya Balan and Rani Mukerji were garnered with appreciations, but the film made nearly Rs. 29.599 crore.

The production house’s second film in 2011CHILLAR PARTY, which was also supported by superstar Salman Khan, netted Rs. 5.450 crore approximately.

Vishesh Films

Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt’s Vishesh Films produced MURDER 2. The Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer thriller film collected almost Rs. 48.252 crore.

Hari Om Entertainment

Akshay Kumar’s production house Hari Om Entertainment in association with UTV Motion Pictures produced THANK YOU netted Rs. 93.900 crore roughly. Bobby Deol, Suneil Shetty, Irrfan Khan, Sonam Kapoor and Akshay Kumar played significant roles in the film.

Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma’s PATIALA HOUSE which was co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Talreja netted Rs. 33.349 crore approximately. The film did not receive many appreciations from the audience.

Fox Star Studios

STANLEY KA DABBA of Fox Star Studious and Amole Gupte Cinema, which had no big stars in the cast, made Rs. 5.500 crore rougly.

Fox Star Studious’ second film of the year DUM MAARO DUM, which received satisfactory comments from the critics, unfortunately did not perform well at the box-office. The film collected nearly Rs. 31.749 crore. Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Prateik Babbar and Rana Daggubati played promising roles in the film.

Excel Entertainment

Excel Entertainment’s first project of 2011 ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA received critical acclaims and thumps up from the audience as well. The film made about Rs. 91.000 crore. Later, the production house in association with Red Chillies Entertainment produced DON 2. The film received mixed response, but has still managed to make an approximate collection of Rs. 48.93 crore in the first three days of its release.
