Vikram is confident of HATE STORY, 1920 - EVIL RETURNS

VIKRAM BHATT
While Vikram Bhatt is currently busy with the post production of DANGEROUS ISHQ and also with the shoot of RAAZ 3, he is also keeping an eye on progress of his two productions - HATE STORY and 1920 - EVIL RETURNS. In fact the filmmaker is trusting directors Vivek Agnihotri and debutant Bhushan Patel to deliver goods with the two movies and is happy with the fact that there is minimum intervention required right through the course of their making.

"Yes, both of them have done a fabulous job on these films. In fact once I was confident of their vision and plan, I didn't even go to the sets of their films," says Vikram, "What I made sure was to have good conversations with them before finalising everything. After my few earlier experiences where things didn't quite go as per the plan (read LANKA), I have understood that I need to be more interactive with people who I work with. By that I don't mean to be intrusive or overbearing but then I need to be on the same page as then. If I didn't do that before, the blame lies with me."

He adds after a pause, "My stint as a producer is new and raw; I am still learning. Having said that I have 20 years experience as a director which means I know a thing or two about filmmaking."

In that case what really explains the poor performance of his other production PHHIR that released after a hiatus last year? The film didn't really make much noise on its release and disappeared without leaving much of a trace.

"Yes, I agree. See, the potential of the script didn't quite come through in case of PHHIR. Also, I think the music could have been better. Moreover whatever chances that it had were further marred by the whole piracy thing that impacted it big time. It was a good, competent film but not quite brilliant though," confesses Vikram.

Well Vikram, here is hoping that things are indeed different with HATE STORY and 1920 - EVIL RETURNS which release on 20th April and 22nd June respectively.
