ZNMD-Vidya-Ranbir sweep Filmfare awards

In a scintillating evening of glamour and style, the 57th Idea Filmfare Awards 2011 saw almost the entire tinsel town gathered at the Reliance Media Works Studio to recognised and honour the best of Bollywood in 2011.
The rather unusual male duo Shahrukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor supported by filmmaker Karan Johar, Pakistani musician and actor Ali Zafar and former Miss India Ankita Shorey charmed the audience with their amusing and witty jokes as they took over to hosting the much acclaimed event.
The evening proved to be an enthralling one for ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA team as the film bagged seven awards including Best Film, Best Cinematography (Carlos Catalon), Best Choreographer (Bosco-Caesar), Best Actor in a Supporting Role Male (Farhan Akhtar), Best dialogue (Farhan Akhtar), Critics' Award for Best Film and Best Director (Zoya Akhtar). Close behind were ROCKSTAR and DELHI BELLY that swept away five and four awards respectively.
At the same time, Vidya Balan and Ranbir Kapoor bagged the awards for Best Actress and Best Actor categories. On the other hand, the debutant awards went to Parineeti Chopra (Best Debutant Female) for LADIES V/S RICKY BAHL, Vidyut Jamwal (Best Debutant Male) for FORCE, and Abhinay Deo (Best Debutant Director) for DELHI BELLY.
The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to accomplished actress and dancer Aruna Irani. Known to have acted in over 300 movies, her memorable acting performances include those in movies like CARAVAN, PET PYAAR AUR PAAP, BETA among others.
In the music awards category, Rekha Bharadwaj and Usha Uthup swept away the playback singer female award for 'Darling' and Mohit Chauhan won in the male category for the song Jo Bhi Mein. Best Lyrics award went to Irshad Kamil- 'Nadaan Parindey' for ROCKSTAR and Best Music Award to Oscar winner A.R. Rahman.
The RD Burman award for Upcoming talent in the field of music was presented to KRSNA for TANU WEDS MANU.
A musical performance by Javed Ali, Shaan and Leslie Lewis was done as a tribute to legendary actors Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor who passed away last year. The performance included songs like 'Dil ka bhanwar', 'Aise na mujhe tum dekho', 'Khoya khoya chand', 'Baar baar dekho', 'Dil deke dekho' and 'Badan pe sitare'.
Apart from this, the female brigade including Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone set the stage on fire by dancing on their popular songs.
The prenuptials Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D'Souza also put up a small act which included a song from their upcoming flick TERE NAAL LOVE HO GAYA.
